SERPs have since returned to normal, but a funny view anyway of seoblackhat.com getting outranked for their TLD term... (not sure why "frank" was part of the study )

Is it better to build a mashup of many different articles even if they aren't all new articles? I thought the purpose of SEO was to create unique content, so this is confusing.
